"Glenolden Library, 211 S. Llanwellyn Ave., will hold an eclipse viewing event at 1 p.m. Library patrons may pick up eclipse-viewing glasses starting at 1 p.m. and watch the eclipse from across the street from the library at Glenolden Park on the corner of Llanwellyn and Knowles avenues. According to Glenolden Library Director Cynthia Long, the library held a “Get Ready For The Eclipse” family night on Aug. 8 that was attended by 30 people. The event offered information about the science and safety of eclipses, as well as some games of “space bingo.”
“The partial solar eclipse is expected to start at 1:21 p.m. and run until 4:01 p.m., with a maximum eclipse at 2:44 p.m,” Long stated. “Viewers in the Philadelphia and Delaware County region will be able to see 79 percent of the sun covered by the moon. In the event of a cloudy day, a view from the NASA live feed will be shown here.”
Long also noted that all children must be accompanied by adults and refreshments, provided by Shop Rite of Glenolden, will be available at the viewing party. For more information, call the library at 610-583-1010."
